Our nature is timid and fearful. We crave gentleness, peace, simplicity, and softness. That’s why we adore the innocent and playful form of Bal Krishna, but the majestic Yogeshwar Krishna doesn’t resonate with us as much.
We often validate our own nature and thoughts by choosing aspects of the divine that align with our preferences. If we’re timid and avoid conflict, we’ll naturally gravitate towards the gentle forms of God. However, as time passes, we must also acknowledge the importance of the ‘Veer Ras’ (the heroic sentiment).
It’s essential to recognize that God isn’t limited to a specific form or temperament. We must be prepared to perceive the divine in its various aspects, including the majestic and powerful forms.
We often see people worshiping Bal Krishna, dressing him up, feeding him, and putting him to sleep. This is not inherently wrong, but we must also be prepared to acknowledge the more majestic and powerful aspects of God.
Krishna’s life wasn’t limited to the blissful days in Gokul and Vrindavan; he also had to face the harsh realities of the battlefield in Kurukshetra. It’s time to recognize that God isn’t just a gentle, loving entity but also a powerful force that can bring about transformation and change.
Many saints and devotees have worshiped Krishna in various forms, and he has revealed himself to them. However, this was possible only because they were genuine, selfless, and free from pretenses.
We often change our spiritual paths and gurus like we change clothes, and we engage in spiritual adultery. We must recognize that true spirituality requires commitment, dedication, and a deep understanding of the divine.
The question we must ask ourselves is: Are we prepared to face the challenges and hardships that come with true devotion? Can we be like Sudama, who remained steadfast in his devotion despite poverty and hardship? Can we be like Meera or Narasimha Mehta, who were ridiculed and ostracized by society but remained committed to their faith?
If we can cultivate this level of devotion and commitment, then we can truly experience the divine. However, if we’re merely going through the motions, then our actions are nothing but pretenses.
To truly understand God, we must first comprehend the divine through the lens of scripture and spiritual knowledge. Only then can we cultivate the depth of emotion and devotion that will allow us to experience the divine in its various forms.
We need a broader perspective to understand God, and for that, we require the guidance of a capable guru.
