Today, I’m discussing the significance of the name “Lambodar” (the one with a large belly) for Lord Ganesha. Many people are now performing Ganesha sadhana, including tantric practices, which yield different and powerful results.
Ganesha’s large belly symbolizes his capacity to encompass and digest all the secrets and mysteries of the universe. He is the first energy and the gateway to understanding any Mahavidya (great cosmic wisdom). To access higher deities like Lalita, Kamala, or Tara, one must first pass through Ganesha’s energy.
To embody the Ganesha principle, one must develop the capacity to digest and retain knowledge, secrets, and experiences without unnecessary disclosure. This requires stability, discretion, and wisdom. Ganesha represents these qualities, and the sadhak (spiritual practitioner) must emulate them.
If you cannot handle the energy of Ganesha, how will you manage the powerful energies of other deities? This is why gurus often initiate students into Ganesha sadhana first. If you cannot keep secrets, digest knowledge, and maintain stability, you will not be able to handle the more potent energies of other Mahavidyas.
People often foolishly invoke powerful deities for trivial, worldly problems, which can lead to devastating consequences. These deities are not to be trifled with; they are nuclear powers, not to be used in petty squabbles.
Ganesha sadhana is the foundation, and if you cannot master this, you will not be prepared for more advanced spiritual practices. This is why gurus emphasize the importance of Ganesha sadhana as a prerequisite for further spiritual growth
