Your God was never a fugitive, so why do you become one? Understand your current state, surroundings, and the maya (illusion) that envelops you. Your soul is unaffected by your physical presence or actions.
The distinction between good and bad, sin and virtue, is irrelevant once you attain self-realization. Your goal is to maintain a state of awareness, like a woman carrying a pot of water on her head, focused on not spilling a single drop.
Your spiritual growth is separate from your worldly interactions. You can be in a temple, yet be consumed by desires, or be in a luxurious setting, yet remain detached. True self-purification is an internal struggle, not dependent on external environments.
Understand the game of maya. If this world is an illusion, then your God is also immersed in it, living as a prince among the illusions. Why do you need to escape?
The difference between you and your God is not in the circumstances, but in the state of mind. Become like Krishna or Rama, who lived amidst maya yet remained untouched.
Maya is like a drop of water on a lotus leaf – it can be shed instantly. Don’t let maya bind you. Understand its impermanence, its fleeting nature. This world is a dream; you must awaken one day.
Once you comprehend this, you can do as you please without accumulating karma. Rama took time to accept his exile, but when he did, it was with equanimity and maturity.
This is the essence of spirituality – to be unaffected by maya, to be like Rama. If you cannot achieve this, then worshiping Rama is pointless. Rama’s message is clear: don’t just worship me, become like me.
